…your pet’s birthday is celebrated with greater enthusiasm than your own.
How my last birthday was celebrated is actually quite hazy, however Lentil’s birthday is crystal clear.
The morning was spent with Lentil eagerly finding treats in party hats and trying to work out (slowly i must say) how to get into his wrapped up goodies. After the rather slow start of him being more interested in the wall (???), he did get there in the end. Once he discovered the party hat treats, his head would stay in the hat for long periods making sure that he got every last treat. Having a party hat covering your eyes, I found, is not a deterrent for a rabbit to stop hopping around. But instead he kept on hopping… into the wall. Although that seemed a silly move on his part, Lentil considered it genius, as it got his little eager mouth 3mm closer to the tasty targets… rabbit logic.
Being a pet photographer, the camera of course was never far away, and maybe it’s because a key moment of the birthday shenanigans was captured that morning that it is so clearly remembered. This photograph will be treasured by me forever and is the first of many more birthday shoots to come.
