For the past 4 years the awards has been my biggest source of professional development. There is nothing quite like putting your work up in front of your peers, who know exactly what to look for in an image, to make you strive to better yourself. When I look at the work that I first entered in the State awards in 2014 to what I entered this year, it’s amazing how similar yet different they are. The bright colours and weirdness was definitely there in the beginning… but my story telling and technique are sooooo improved. So while it stresses me out no end putting myself out there to be critiqued, trust me, you do not want to know me in the final lead up to the awards, I am intolerable to even myself, but I do it anyway. Seeing the progress in my work is a testament to the award process. And while the awards received is really nice bonus (like really nice!), it’s all the striving and self critiquing prior to the images being seen by any judge that is the most beneficial. BUT in saying that… I got 3 Golds and a silver!!! wooooohooooooooo!!!! Hell yeah!!! lol
So these are my little award winners this year!
And of course, what is a post about the awards without some (quite tipsy) photos from the awards ceremony! (Where I also was named a finalist in the Pet/Animal Category! Chuffed x 10!!)
Now back to it!!!
