My (revised) New Year Resolutions!
(besides creating more quirky Pet Art)
Sooooooo, some of my New Year resolutions have already met an early demise. “Less procrastinating” was number three. Seeing that I had originally planned to write this on the 2nd of Jan, I have scratched that off the list, no use setting yourself up for failure I say. (Well, pretty sure someone intellectually famous said that, but I wholeheartedly agree). It was right after “drink less coffee”, but screw it, I love coffee and recently read a study, whose credentials I am not going to look into AT ALL, that stated that coffee is not all that bad so I’m happy with that.
So here is my revised New Year’s Resolutions
drink less coffee procrastinate less
- spend more time hanging upside down
delete Angry Birds off my mobile(next year maybe) stop killing indoor plants(sometimes shit happens)
- travel to either Cuba or Ireland for a month
- stop feeling guilty that pet photography doesn’t feel like work
- look after my body more (yes yes, feel like a sheep having this one as whose list isn’t this on, but is so important!)
But mostly embrace being me, not only personally but in business. Took me the better part of last year to take off the more “traditional” (for lack of a better work) type of pet photography off my website. People and their pets in natural or urban settings. Nothing wrong with that type of photography, it’s actually what majority of people want for a good reason. It’s just not me, and took me a while to accept that. But what is the point of starting a business, which is difficult in itself, if you are not passionate about every aspect of it (accounting excluded). And well let’s just say that creating weird and quirky pet art for pet parents is definitely where my passion lies. My tribe are passionately colourful quirky pet parents, and I think that is ridiculously awesome.
So here is to 2016, not necessary a year of change for me, but instead a year of embracing what is and running with it.
And you see some of 2015’s creations (mixed in with a bit of 2014) by clicking below
So stay in touch for 2016, The Carnival of Fur and Four Legs is continuing of course! Coming soon… Ratty Trapeze Artists, the Unicycle Specialist, The Worst Magician in the World, the tallest and shortest dogs in the World and more. The ‘Lentil and I’ project went to the sideline last year until recently so going to get back on track with that. And a new project is on the works inspired by still life paintings by the Dutch Masters and involving kittens, puppies and rabbits (of course)… stay tuned xoxo
P.S. Giving up alcohol for 3 months might of been on the list too… hmmmm.
P.S.S. Wishing you and your furry and non-furry family a most excellent 2016. Get weird!
