This Pussy Cat just keeps on getting around.
She is being exhibited with Melbourne Polytechic’s Exhibition Anterior in the Ballarat International Foto Bienalle. But that is only one very small reason on why to head to Ballarat for the Foto Bienalle. There are 141 reasons to head there as there are 21 core exhibitions by amazing photographic artists and 120 Fringe program exhibitions!
But where to start?…
Well if your here on my site then there is a high chance that you like the weird and unusual – so head to see Jane Long’s exhibit “Dancing with Costica“. She has restored old photographs taken by a photographer from Romanian War Era and jazzed them up to pieces of quirky and extraordinary art.
Home by Nightfall by Angela Bacon-Kidwell is haunting beautiful, you feel as if you are right there in the scene and go from feeling joyous to sad depending on the image you are viewing .
Wonders of the Universe Exposed by the Members of the Astronomical Society of Victoria at the Gold Museum will take you outer space… almost literally. The way that the astro images have been printed and the spot lights shining on them, you feel like you can reach into the image and pluck out your own star.
And of course you can see Spotaite (above) at Anterior by Melbourne Polytechnic where you will find a amazing and electric mix of work by current students, past students (that’s me!) and teachers. Its a great indication of where photography is heading in the future.
So there are four to start with! You can get programs from the Mining Exchange with more information and a map! Prioritise what you want to see as there is too much to see in one day. You can also check out the website –BIFB
So forget that the Mercury drops a few (ok… several degrees) and head to Ballarat before it is all over on the 20th of Sept.
